Services

Each person is different. Each Eating Disorder story is different. Each recovery journey is different.

Eating disorders assimilate to each individual in a unique manner; consequently, there is not a cookie-cutter approach but rather a highly personalized one that abides by no stereotypes. A Recovery Coaching support plan respects, reflects and aligns with each sufferer’s specific personality traits, circumstances, needs, motivation, and goals. Recovery from an Eating Disorder is not an easy or short-term project, but if anything a journey composed by many phases, with patience, motivation, ambivalence and resistance being constantly on a flux. Therefore, given that your reasons for change will change and your motivation to change will come in endless forms and changes over time, our support and action plan will be constantly evaluated throughout your recovery process ensuring its relevance and fine tuning it to best represent you at any given stage along the way.

I work with patients of all ages, across all eating disorders and with a focus on Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, Orthorexia, Disordered Eating, Obesity, Emotional (over)eating, Body Image Distortion/Issues, Dysfunctional Relationship with food and exercise. My services are available both in person and virtually.

Eating Disorder Recovery Coaching Sessions

During the one-on-one recovery coaching sessions (in person and/or virtual) we work with your level of motivation, readiness and stage of change to then organically unveil a personalized recovery map. Within the context of these sessions we address what types of “in the moment” support you require and How our work can provide them. We will learn how to address differently day-to-day challenges, identifying and working towards letting go of destructive Eating Disorder behaviors/patterns — both Overt ED behaviors (restricting, binging, purging etc) and Recovery Sabotaging Behaviors (calorie counting, food rituals, compulsive exercise etc).

Text Support

As a Recovered Eating Disorder Coach much like sober coaches/sponsors, I am available, responding to texts and calls at all hours and offering virtual and in-person emotional support.

Exposure Response Prevention: Meal support sessions + Post meal processing

The meal sessions is the most accurate way of getting a true picture of the disordered behavior, its power, and the anxiety it commands. Each eating event is individualized, multidimensional and constantly revised to meet the challenge of the moment. They can increase awareness and accountability, while also providing a challenge and opportunity for change. Events are aimed at making actual changes in food quantity, quality, variety and manner of eating through a variety of exposure techniques. They also provide opportunities to explore the impact of social context on the individual’s difficulties with eating.

Exposure Response Prevention: Clothes Shopping Challenge Sessions

For a person with an Eating Disorder, aside from the food-centered mindset, what you weigh, and how you look have probably become more important than who you are. The Eating Disorder Recovery process explores all the facets of the notion of change with body changes being in the forefront. Reframing the way we perceive and approach our body is fundamental. Working on acceptance of your natural body shape and size, with food and weight taking a proper perspective in your life and learning how actual numbers can have little or no importance at all can be a difficult but not an impossible task.

Exposure Response Prevention: Grocery Shopping and In-Home Cooking Sessions

One of the many goals of an eating disorder recovery coach is to help the client move through an/any eating related experience(s). The Grocery Shopping and In-Home Cooking exposure and response prevention sessions assist in reframing your experience of shopping and preparing a meal in line with your recovery goals. You receive the support, guidance, and accountability necessary to navigate the process of shopping, cooking and meal preparation as per your nutritional plan, your nutritional needs and preferences.

Family & Carer Eating Disorder Recovery Coaching Sessions

Through the Family & Carer Eating Disorder Recovery Coaching  sessions (virtual or in-person), you will be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to better understand your loved one and where they are in their recovery journey. Comprehending where they are coming from, understanding their perspectives and the mindset that defines their reactions, resistance, ambivalence, choices and behaviors, helps to enhance your empathy as well as your confidence in supporting them during challenging times.

Live In & Transition Support

Live ins & Transition Support are an ideal formula during a sufferer’s transition from an inpatient setting to back home. Following an inpatient treatment one requires lots of structure, support, guidance, and accountability in order to sustain any progress made while inpatient and prevent relapse. They are also apt for anyone who is particularly struggling and feeling that they need a higher level of accountability and support throughout the day in order to prevent a relapse and get back on track.

An Eating Disorder Recovery Coach is not a replacement for a therapist, dietician, or medical or mental health professional, and thus, I cannot provide medical, nutritional, psychological, or other services designated for practice by a medical or mental health professional. My role functions as an adjunct to your treatment team, and my services complement and support those of your primary care providers as I am dealing with unique issues and circumstances that other team members cannot perform due to time constraints, legal parameters, or lack of specific training. As a Recovered Eating Disorder Coach, I help individuals reach their treatment goals in real-life situations, providing support, and appropriate challenges, and serving as both a role model and a guide. I am trained on how to work with the eating disorder population, in both an individual and group setting, to help facilitate growth and behavior change related to recovery.
